Parc du Mercantour

From the hotel, you have access to the region’s most visited sites. The internationally renowned Parc du Mercantour is just 1 hour from our hotel.

Between sea and mountains, this national park is home to a remarkable wealth of flora and fauna. Observers can admire ibex, chamois and marmots in their natural habitat. Botanists can also come across some 40 species of endemic plants.

The Mercantour Park can be visited in any season. From spring to autumn, it offers splendid landscapes and clear lakes. In winter, hikers enjoy the peace and quiet of the snow-covered peaks.

600 km of marked trails help you discover the natural heritage of this protected area. Sentier des lacs, Tour de la Tête du Lac Autier, Lac du Lauzanier, Cascade de la Lance: so many sites to see with your own eyes.

Among the most visited sites is the Vallée des Merveilles, with its 40,000 prehistoric engravings. Lac d’Allos, Europe’s largest natural high-altitude lake, is also well worth a visit.

From the Hotel Gounod, you can reach the Parc du Mercantour by car or bus. You can also take the train des Merveilles or the train des Pignes.

Our 4-star hotel is the perfect place to relax after a day out. We’ll also be happy to help you organize your visit to the park.
